groomsshoes.jpg You might have heard of the old adage, 'You can't judge a book by its cover, but can you judge a man by his shoes.' That's because nothing makes a groom look like he has a good head on his shoulders than a good pair of shoes. Believe it or not, people notice these details at a wedding, particularly if they aren't shiny or if everyone is wearing black shoes.

If you're looking into wearing something a bit more comfortable, use your best pair of laceup dress shoes that are well worn in. But remember to polish them first. You can either do these yourself or take them to your local shoe shine shop or stand. It's worth the effort.

Of course, if both the bride and groom don't mind poking a little fun at wedding tradition, they can still choose to wear something a little less formal, such as black and white Chuck Taylors. But there's no such leeway when it comes to  socks, so you will want black socks that are knee-high. There is nothing more unsightly than a groom wearing socks that rise only to the ankles.
