It's no secret that the many women in relationships are thrilled by the prospect of being proposed to. What's even more awesome is getting the perfect diamond ring to accompany your wedding finger till the day of your wedding. But how confident are you of your boyfriend's selection?

Would you trust him to pick out the size, weight, cut and style that you want? Or are you worried that he'd pick a boring, ordinary diamond ring? Worse, what if he decides to go for gemstones instead?

Take it from Jennifer Love Hewitt, who at only seven months into her relationship with boyfriend Alex Beh, has already chosen three diamond rings from Tiffany for him to choose from!

She tells Ellen DeGeneres:

“I actually have three [engagement rings picked out], because I feel like I’m doing the guy a favor,”

“If it gets to that conversation. If marriage comes up, I’m like, ‘You know what’s so weird? There is this store [Tiffany], and there are three rings in it ... And if you chose one of these three, I’m going to be really excited. And if you go off on your own, we can have an awful, awkward moment. So why would you want to do that?’”

Do you agree with J-Love? It does seem a lot easier when you have paved the roads for your man; all he has to do is run in, pick a ring out of the selection, and propose to you.

Let's calculate the element of surprise: we suppose it'd make sense to have a selection (and make sure your jeweler keeps a record of the rings you have picked out) and leave it to the guy to propose whenever he wants. This could mean you should be expecting a proposal within the next month, or *gasp within the next few years. It's still quite exhilarating either way.
