According to the Telegraph,
a director at a small concrete company
even claims that taking just one day off could actually cost him around
£50,000 in losses! Others are even going as far as demanding their
workers turn up on the royal wedding day or face a day without pay.
The
reason why many firms aren't willing to give employees time off is
because they're already struggling due to the effects of the crippling
winter spell in Britain back in mid-December 2010, which hindered them
from conducting any business. However, Britain's largest labor union,
the GMB, is fighting for workers' rights, saying that 'a holiday is a
holiday' and employees should be able to stay home and enjoy the
festivities.
Well, we're pretty sure that either way, business will go on as usual in Britain.
